Engagement I Anniversary

A Surprise Proposal

“What’s your favorite color?” It was a simple get-to-know-you question on their first date, but Jessica didn’t know that Jordan was listening to every word she said. Her answer: she absolutely loved the color blue – in her paintings, in her room decor, her clothes. All of it. And he tucked it away in his mind for a day he already thought would be in their future. The day he would ask her to be his wife.

She was walking to her front door when she saw it.

A blue balloon.

With an envelope.

Her heart beat quickened as she opened it.

“Today is a very special day….”

He was sending her on a scavenger hunt, with blue balloons marking each clue. She exhaled trying to calm her nerves. It was happening.

And hour later, she arrived at the final destination and saw him. He was standing on the edge of their favorite park. He was dressed in a suit and holding the final blue balloon.

She got out of the car and walked towards him, time slowing down as she tried to take it all in. Taking her hand, he walked her up the trail. As they neared the top, she suddenly saw their friends and family above them. She caught her Dad’s gaze and the tears began to well up.

And then she saw the blue blanket set up on the ground overlooking the the river. With bottles of coke (their favorite drink) in a bucket, a candle lantern, and the final clue.

“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh,” she repeated out loud.

Jordan opened the final envelope and began to read the words to her. It was one of the most important love letters he would write to her in their lives together. As he read the words, he began to choke up. He told her how much he loved her and he wanted them to be buddies for life.

And then, without letting his eyes leave hers, he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a blue velvet ring box. Time stopped as he got down on one knee.

You could feel the collective breath everyone was holding.

She was holding all of the excitement and anticipation of this moment as she waited for the words.

“Jessica Faith, will you marry me?”

And then this happened!

And this… as he showed her the tiny blue sapphire he had put on the bridge of the diamond solitaire just for her.

It was the most beautiful and exciting moment we had ever witnessed!

They kissed, laughed, and hugged as they realized that they were finally ENGAGED!! They opened their bottles of Coke and hugged all of their family and friends who had traveled across the state to be with them on this momentous day.

And then we said goodbye to Jessica and Jordans so they could go get ice cream together and be done with all the surprises.

Or so she thought.

While they enjoyed their time alone together realizing that they were now FIANCÉS, we snuck back home to finish setting up the engagement party that Jordan had planned with more of their friends.

A short bit later, Jordan revealed the very last surprise to his bride-to-be and took her to the party where both their families and closest friends were ready to CEEELEBRAAATE with champagne, cake, and a million more pictures.
