As Dana carefully slipped her heels on, one of her bridesmaids asked her if she had noticed it. “What?” she asked. Her friend lifted up one of Dana’s shoes, and that’s when she saw it. The black scrawl of his handwriting on the bottom – telling her that he loved her and couldn’t wait to spend forever together.
This sweet moment was just one of the many throughout Dana and Cody’s wedding day. Getting to serve them and document their commitment to each other with Sarah was such an honor!
Early that day, as we were setting up detail shots, we ran into the groom walking outside. We asked him how he was, if he was nervous at all, and I’ll never forget his reaction. He exhaled as a huge smile spread across his face. “Not really nervous,” he said. “Just ready to marry her!” There was nothing but excitement in his voice. The girl of his dreams was about to be his wife.
As we photographed the details after that encounter, I saw his love for Dana shining through: His handwritten message on the bottom of her wedding shoes; A custom hat with their special jokes etched on the inside that he had given her during their engagement that she absolutely adored; And finally, the diamond wedding set picked especially for her. Capturing these details made me realize Cody was anything but nervous – he was just anticipating a promise his heart had already made long ago.
Standing together, in front of God, their family, and friends, Dana and Cody were glowing. It was finally the moment where they put words to the promises their hearts had already made to each other: To love each other selflessly, to laugh together until their stomachs hurt, to support and encourage each other, and to be faithful for the rest of their lives together.
Mr. and Mrs. Fuller, congratulations! We are so grateful you chose us to document such a special day in your lives together and we hope that when you share these images with your future friends and babies, they’ll be able to see the light and love that we saw in your eyes that day!
