Romantic Spanish Moss Engagement Session in Houston

To the guys who bring engagement rings through security in airports – our hats go off to you! Not wanting to check the ring make complete sense, but hoping for the best as you go through the security screening with your significant other right next you is downright nerve-racking!

Dan had met Elissa while they were both working Colorado, and after dating for a couple years and moving to Houston together, he started making plans. Around the time he ordered her engagement ring and was waiting for it to arrive, Elissa was starting to ask more questions about when she should be expecting a proposal. Every time she would ask, “Are we going to get engaged soon?” he would deflect her questions, all the while knowing the answer was yes. Very soon indeed.

They had a trip planned to visit his family in Chicago and the ring arrived just in time, so Dan decided this trip would be his opportunity. They packed their bags for the trip and that’s when airport security interfered with Dan’s cool cover. The engagement ring set off the security alarm and the TSA agent asked Dan to step aside as they looked through his bag. Dan knew exactly what had set off the alarm though and Elissa was right behind him. Fearing she would see the ring box when the bag was being sorted, Dan got ready to resort to dropping to a knee and proposing in the security line. Fortunately, while Elissa was putting her shoes back on, he was able to whisper to the TSA agent. The agent was kind and made a show of saying, “Oh it was just the snacks in your bag that set it off, no problem!”

Having made it through one obstacle, Dan was now ready to prepare for the actual proposal day. He got his mom to discreetly ask Elissa if she wanted to get her nails done as a girl’s date the morning of the proposal. When they came home from the salon, Elissa was working in the basement, unaware that Dan and his dad were hanging string

lights and candles in the backyard.

Getting bored working inside, Elissa decided to unknowingly cause panic by taking a break and working out in the backyard. Dan quickly paused production activities and waited for her to go back inside. Despite the obvious, Elissa wasn’t even close to guessing what was coming her way in a couple of hours.

After donning a fresh polo that evening, Dan assumed his position outside under the twinkling lights and candles. His family led Elissa outside and when she got to Dan, the nerves hit and she couldn’t stop talking. He looked so nice, wow so handsome in that polo, did he know she had gotten her nails done today, what did he think about them,…Dan laughed and talked with her as the sounds of Vance Joy started playing. They slow danced to their favorite song (which would be there First Dance song at their wedding!) and at the end, Dan got down on one knee and asked her the question she had been anticipating.

Dan and Elissa, we loved capturing your joy and laughter during this exciting season! Our stomachs hurt from laughing the whole session and we can’t wait to witness you two get married later this Spring at La Cantera Resort & Spa.
