Welcome Home

We had just gotten back from a weekend date in Half Moon Bay. We dropped our bags on the floor. Kam started putting things away. I went to my office desk and saw the pile of mail. There was a big white envelope. As I got closer, I saw that the return sender read Baylor Law School. I picked it up and ran over to Kameron in the kitchen with a big smile. He opened it and started reading the first page. I jumped up next to him and started reading too.

“Honey, YOU GOT IN!!!”

That moment was the very start of our journey to make Texas our new home. Kameron flew out to visit Baylor over a weekend in March and came home with his final decision – we were moving to Waco! A couple months later, it was July. Our designated moving month had arrived. We gathered every item to our name and managed to cram them all into two U-Haul trailers. With a trailer hooked to each of our cars, we started the 1,658 mile drive to what would be our new home for the next three years.

We arrived with an uneventful drive (WAHOO!) and settled into our new apartment. Kameron just finished his very first week of law school and says his brain has never worked harder! We have been so incredibly blessed to be welcomed by so many sweet people from the moment we got here! Since July, Sunday game nights and weekend trips have filled our calendar.

It hasn’t been long, but we are loving our new home and the start of community here! We are often asked what we miss about California. Things cross my mind like the beach, our families, knowing the grocery store like the back of my hand. But when we think of the things that we are enjoying here, the list is even longer. And that is a beautiful blessing! We can’t wait for the memories and adventures that will fill this chapter of life together!
